Notes Suede binding is somewhat dust marked and has an area of squashed pile where other books have clearly been stacked on top. Text block is dust marked to edges but generally very clean. Whilst the current binding is firm making this copy easy to handle and read, it may be a suitable candidate for a quality rebind especially as it retains the slim errata style slip that many copies lack.

Description

Hardback. 134pp. First edition. Popular and influential poem by the Scottish author Thomas Campbell. Based on the events of the Battle of Wyoming, or the Wyoming Massacre, that took place in the Wyoming Valley, Pennsylvania during the American Revolutionary War in the eighteenth century. That the state of Wyoming was later so named because of the influence of the poem making this an interesting piece of American history. The text includes 19 pages of notes on the historical background as well as other poems including Ye Mariners of England (A Naval Ode), Glenara, Battle of the Baltic (Nelson and the naval Battle of Copenhagen in 1801), Lochiel (again with historical notes by the author), Hohinlinden and Lord Ullin’s Daughter. Errata style slip (actually a dialect note) bound in after dedication page. An eccentrically rebound copy in thick fawn suede with no titles. The original text and prelims are complete.
