Description

Hardback, 8'' x 5'', 226pp. Collection of 6 lectures, with additional material and essays, reflecting a Jewish point of view when considering the Christian story specifically as portrayed in the Passion Play of Oberammergau. One of the addition essay considers the Christology of St Paul from the same perspective. The poignant plea of the introduction for further understanding 'if the Jew is to be spared further suffering, and if the Christian is to be saved from further wrong-doing against Israel' is sharpened by the knowledge of the suffering the twentieth century was to bring. Blue cloth has gilt titles to front and spine, is edge worn and slightly bumped with some spotting staining and occasional white marks (old paint?). Gatherings are still bound together but stitching is loose and stretched. Free end paper and first prelim have been removed and there are old tape marks across internal front hinge which is cracked. Frontis is sepia photograph of author and still retains protective tissue.
