Notes Black cloth over bevelled boards and with gilt titles to spine is clean but slightly scuffed with more pronounced wear to the head of the spine. Ffep has been removed and an amateur repair (fairly neat and strong) has glued into the gutter securing the front board to the first prelim. Some light foxing to prelims. Text is clean and binding remains sound.

Many were originally for a German audience (written in English) to establish Stevenson’s reputation as a serious writer not just a teller of adventurous tales, collected here after his death.
