Description

Hardback. Edited by Mollie Preston. Introduced by Michael Croucher. Linocuts by Tony Evora. 176pp. First published in Farmers’ Weekly in the 1930s. The writer under her pen name Jeanne Preston claimed to have had an original diary whether this was merely expanded or its existence was a fiction is not proved. It is however a lively and entertaining read, evoking country life in the late eighteenth century in an apparently plausible Herefordshire dialect. Bound in full pictorial dark red cloth printed with a design by the artist. Black leather label to the spine with gilt titles. With tan slipcase covered in paper in an elephant-hide style.
