Description
Hardback. 200pp. First edition. Privately published for subscribers in a very small print run. Colour illustrated maps to endpapers. Small selection of colour plates and further black and white illustrations throughout. Arthur Ransome was Special Correspondent to the Manchester Guardian and to the Baltimore Sun. His experiences in China informed his novel Missee Lee of his Swallows and Amazons series. The subscribers are named in the back and first owner has signed and dated the title page - his name is indicated on the list. To aid readers who are not familiar with Chinese history there are, in an appendix, three briefing essays such as would have been provided to Ransome by the Manchester guardian. We have lots more Arthur Ransome books in stock.
