A fascinating account of the history of English leisure activities as understood in the early nineteenth century with lively within text illustrations. Joseph Strutt (1749-1802) was an antiquary with a strong interest in social history and the manners and customs of his countrymen. the book has the name plate and signature of Ernest Callard of Little Missenden abbey, Buckinghamshire.
