Hardback. 292p. Over 40 Lancashire tales largely in dialect by the dialect poet Edwin Waugh. Many previously appeared in the Manchester journal, The Critic. Titles include: Wakken Beggar; The Lost Donkey; Snick-Snarls; The Swallowed Sixpence; Lobscouse; A Berrin' Posy, etc. Frontis retains the tissue guard. Vignette to title page is by Ralph Caldecott and the black and white frontis An old chimney corner in Chadderton Fold is by John Houghton Hague appropriately of the Manchester School of Painters.
