Historical novel for older children or young adults featuring the adventurous 14 year old Emmie as she battles her small corner in the injustices of the eighteenth century slave trade. Hester Burton (1913-2000) was awarded the Carnegie Medal for her earlier novel Time of Trial in 1963. Dust jacket is illustrated to front and back by Victor Ambrus.
