Hardback. First edition. xv, 709pp. Substantial collection of letters by the poet Rupert Brooke from his school days to the days before his death in WWI. Also includes a number of letters by W. Dennis Browne describing Brooke’s last days and the aftermath of his death. Composer William Denis Browne was Brooke’s friend from Rugby and Cambridge and served with him in royal Naval division. He was killed not many months after Brooke. Editor Geoffrey Keyenes was Brooke’s friend and literary executor. 19 black and white illustrations.
