| Notes | Spine has been relaid but is complete. Some external darkening and dustiness to the buff papers but the illustration to the front is bright. Binding a little stressed in places but still holding firm. Small area of loss to lower edge of title page. Previous owner’s neat inscription in pencil dated 1929. A very few minor marks internally, mainly to the prelims, the text is generally very clean and bright. |
Description
Hardback. First edition of this Beatrix Potter tale. Colour illustrated paste-down on buff coloured boards with green titles to front. Colour and black & white illustrations throughout. Larger format: 175 by 135mm (7 by 5¼ inches). Later re-issued in the more familiar small format but this larger format of the first edition allows the reader to enjoy Potter’s colour illustrations more fully.
