Paperback. 347pp. Azar Nafisi was expelled from the University of Tehran for refusing to wear the compulsary veil and left for America in 1997 where she has since been a professor of English litertature. This memoir of teaching in Iran uses four discussions at a book club at the writers house as a structure to form the narrative. The book is divided into sections Lolita, Gatsby, James, Austen but dozens of books are refered to throughout.
