Description

Small single sheet handwritten letter, on headed note paper, from Craig’s Bedford Street address. Sent to a Mrs Cohen of Leeds regarding a play. Edith Craig (1869-1947) was the daughter of actress Ellen Terry. Her creative and eventful life included a wide ranging career in the theatre involving production, direction and design, with plays often involving feminist or suffrage themes, as well as a lively personal life with both heterosexual and homosexual relationships culminating in a long lasting ménage à trois with the suffragist Christabel Marshall and artist Clare "Tony" Atwood.
