Tipped in plates, pictorial endpapers and woodblock illustrations throughout all by Laurence Irving, artist, book illustrator and set designer. Irving was the grandson of the great actor Sir Henry Irving. As a set designer he worked with Douglas Fairbanks, Mary Pickford and Charlie Chaplin.
