| Notes | Blue cloth is clean. A little softened to spine ends. Uneven tanning to endpapers and the suggestion of a watermark to the rear endpapers and rear of the jacket ; the book itself is unaffected. Dust jacket is price clipped and is surface rubbed and slightly scuffed. There are some small chips with some creasing next to short edge tears of the jacket. Jacket is foxed to the reverse. Clean and sound. |

Dag Hammarskjöld was Secretary General of the UN when he was killed in a plane crash in 1961. Widely respected at the time of his death he was the only posthumous recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. U.S. president John F. Kennedy called Hammarskjöld "the greatest statesman of our century" and ordered the flags of government buildings to fly half mast in his honour.
